| We are often asked what need is there for a hardware Maintenance agreement when all of the system components are covered by the manufacturer’s Warranty. Well, let’s take a quick look at the difference – so, at the very least you are making an informed decision.
Warranty – It’s true that all systems components are covered by a manufacturer’s warranty. But, what many people don’t understand is that the terms of most manufacturer’s warranty require you to send the failing item in for repair or replacement at the factory or a designated repair facility and then waiting for a return – sometimes you can arrange for an advanced exchange at an extra cost – and then you still need to re-install it into the system. Typically, the turnaround time varies from as short as a week or two to as long as a couple of months. The difficulty is that while you are waiting – you or your customer just might be down – and that’s not good.
Maintenance – Maintenance (at least the maintenance offered by PCM) takes a different approach. Maintenance off-loads the entire process to an organization that provides a better solution for several key problems. First, the turnaround time lag, - maintenance providers cover that gap by providing advance exchange parts is performed by a technician that has the training to make sure that the job is done properly – often preventing additional problems. Simply put, hardware maintenance delegates many of the “problems” involved with system repair to PCM.
Next business day – Next business day warranty (NBD) is now the industry standard for on site computer service. Here’s how it works – the customer reports the failure – PCM assists with the diagnosis and processes a service order with the provider. Parts are typically shipped, via overnight carrier, directly to the end user location and a technician is dispatched to handle the replacement – and the return of the defective parts. Your system is up and running with little or no intervention by you – typically, on the next business day.
